Hi all, I'd like to jump into this thread since I have the exact same issue. I've redone our shower and built the pan following all the advice here. Liner goes over the curb and no screws in the rest of the liner until 2-3 inches above the level of the curb. The shower door I am in the process of installing (dreamline enigma x) also calls for drilling into the shower curb (to fix the guideblock).
I've uploaded an image from the website which is taken from outside the shower, so the screws are drilled on the shower/wet side of the glass. Now the epoxy seems like a good idea, but I'm a little concerned how well it holds. Snets post is over 4 year's old so I hope he is still around and could update how well his solution has help up. Apart from that, I'm wondering how risky it actually is to drill into the curb. For water to reach the guideblock and possibly get through the silicone that would be applied, it would have reached half way up the slight slope of the curb and be 1/16 or 1/8 of inch from flowing over. At that point, its seems there might be bigger things to worry about than the possibility of water breaching the silicone and prenetrating through the screws.
Or is that water is wicked up through the tile/grout from the pan floor and could possible reached the punctures in the liner at the top of hte curb? Input/advice is most welcome. Written instructions say to use screws. I called dreamline and they confirmed screwing would not be a problem (though the person i spoke with did not come accross as too knowledgable). Epoxy is appealing but i am concerned about its holding power, especially if anyone accidently slips and puts a lot of shear force on the bond. Thanks gleeson. This question is better suited to a Glazer's forum.
They are the experts on enclosure installation. Us tile guys are going to throw our arms up in disgust at the nerve of anyone putting penetrations into our babies LOL! But seriously, it happens all the time, I believe you put a squirt of silicone down the hole before the screw, but ask a Glazer for the pro skinny or you will get a bunch of dribble from remodel tilers that think they have been trained by every trade apprenticeship program on the planet. Remember; Jack of all trades, master of none.

Hi Marty, If you could provide a link to the Glazer's forum you find reputable it would be greatly appreciated as I too must think I have been trained in every trade on the planet since I have reservations about letting a glass installer drill into my shower curb. I think Marty is referring to a Glazier.

I'm not convinced that a Glazier would necessarily have the answer about being able to drill into a curb and guarantee it would remain leak free if the waterproofing was breached. In fact if that does happen does it become the glass installers responsibility? I can see proving that would be tough. I will soon be at a point of having to install shower doors on my project.
I will be installing myself but based on initial inquires based on my shower design and the info I have from the glass company I will not need to drill into the curb so I should not be facing this issue. I would have the same reservations about drilling into the curb. I suspect there may be software tools around on the web to model loading and being able to calculate how to secure something like this correctly without having to anchor it from the bottom.
