Related News • • • AFTER GUJARAT Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board (GPYVB) sought repair, restoration and conservation of Dwarkadhish temple in Dwarka and raised the issue with Prime Minister, the Archaelogical Survey of India (ASI) has allotted 45 lakh special grant for two temples. Raju Dhruv, vice chairman of GPYVB, wrote a letter to the director general of ASI in August this year after a visit to Dwarkadhis temple and Rukshmani temple, also located near Dwarka. “Temples of Shri Dwarkadhishji and Shri Rukshminiji at Dwarka require urgent attention for repairing, renovation and restoration works. It was observed that many stones are worn out, and enfeebled due to the exposure to the Sun and rain all these years and impaired by use. Many portions of these temple buildings are quite in delapidated condition,” Dhruv wrote in his letter to the ASI chef. GPYVB is a body of Gujarat government working for development of major places of worship in the state.

After writing the letter to the ASI, Dhruv also sought intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the matter. On the directions of the Prime Minister’s Office, the ASI allotted Rs 45.63 lakh special grant for conservation and restoration of the twin temples, a release from GPYVB said. Dwarkadhish temple situated on the bank of river Gomati in Dwarka town and Rukshamni temple near Rupen harbour close to Dwarka town are monuments protected by ASI.
