I just got RE4 on PC, I traded in my Resident Evil 4 for GCN on Goozex to get points for RE4 on PC. I know many will say this was a bad move but I didn't feel like playing my Gamecube, plus I want all the extra content that was included on PS2. So, I've got some questions: • I'm playing on a 24' Wide screen LCD monitor.. When I set it to 1920x1200, it will not load. Is there a fix?
• Is there anyway I can use my mouse to aim? I guess, the controls aren't so bad but I'd much prefer mouse aiming, or if I buy the wireless connector for my 360 controller, will it work? • I want to make it as pretty as possible, can somebody link me to solid graphical mods? OK, let's see here: - Mouse aiming mod exists but it's allegedly crap (never used it myself) as it's essentially an analogue stick emulator. - Game is easily compatible with a 360 controller - However the button prompts are messed up - No idea on the monitor thing, never heard of that problem.
I was running it on a 1680 x 1050 monitor so I couldn't tell you. Now, to go about fixing this broken game and making it something worth playing. First thing you want to do is download and install the patch.
Next, you're going to want to hit the mod forum: Before you can mod the game, you need to do some file extraction, a guide to which can be found here: Once you've extracted the files, you're ready to replace them and really party. The main mod listing is here: I'll recommend some stuff to get you started (be warned, the main mods are large so they're going to take a while to download): 1) - First you'll want the replacement pack if you're going to be using a 360 controller. You can also install the button replacement pack if you want, the two shouldn't clash IIRC. There also exists a if you want.
2) - Next, time to make the game pretty. Grab the pack, which replaces ALL in-game textures with awesome, ultra-high-res textures. See screenshots. 2.1) -Optionally you can also download and install the pack over the Texture patch, it's just some extra refinements on some of the textures and things. 3) - For some reason they went with pre-rendered cut-scenes as in the PS2 version, instead of in-engine. Naturally these look blurry as heck (really low res). So someone did some re-encoding and made them ultra-smooth and awesome, as you can 4) - shader mod will give you proper lighting and depth of field / motion blur (both of which you can toggle off if you want).
