I have had 3 clients running NSA 2400 units with 5.9.1.7-2o report random disconnections of NetExtender SSL-VPN sessions and delayed emails to internal Exchange servers because of micro-breaks in Internet connectivity. Very, very frustrating and hard to nail down to a particular piece of hardware or software, but it appears that this firmware update (the latest currently available) has major issues. I replaced two of the three units with a secure upgrade (NSA 2600 and NSA 3600) running a later SonicOS and the issues went away immediately.

Anyone else experience this type of behavior with 5.9.1.7-2o? Hey all, We just updated to this firmware to see if it solved an issue with one of our NSA2400s locking up without failing over to the secondary unit. Can't say if it fixes it yet as its a fairly rare issue. I did want to chime in with this though: We were previously on a hotfix release as we discovered a setting in the Flood Protection section that was causing high CPU usage due to false-positive RST floods. This is now in the standard firmware 5.9.1.7, but the setting is automatically set to ON when you update to 5.9.1.7, so you will need to turn it back off again if your Sonicwall is seeming to lock up, and connections are being dropped. The setting is in Firewall Settings > Flood Protection > Enforce strict TCP compliance with RFC 5961.

I've attached a screenshot. I believe this is in the known issues section of the release notes and is being looked into by Sonicwall. Once this was disabled, no other issues after updating as yet.
