If an update’s available, plug the USB drive into your computer and follow the onscreen prompts. On the website, you’ll find an optional tutorial that explains how to download the software update using a download manager called Akamai NetSession. This interface is optional and can help quickly download large files to the USB. If you’re unable to use the Akamai Netsession or prefer to download the file directly to the USB, you can click on the following link and download the update directly in your browser. Once the file has finished downloading, double click the zip file to extract the software update to your USB drive. Once the file is downloaded, pop the USB drive out of your computer and take it to your vehicle.

Once you’re in your vehicle, make sure you’re in a well-ventilated area, and then start your car. You must remain parked until the update is completed. When you see this screen, verify that the system software version on the USB is different than your current version. Press YES to begin the update.

After a few seconds, your Uconnect System will reset. Several notifications will appear during this update to indicate progress. Remember, do not turn off the ignition or remove the USB device until the update process has successfully completed. The Uconnect System may become inoperative if the update is interrupted.

Once the update has completed, the system will reset and return to normal operation. When the system powers back on, wait approximately 60-90 seconds until the following screen appears. Confirm that the software version numbers now match. If they’re the same, press NO. The software update is complete and your Uconnect system is now equipped with the latest software. It’s now safe to remove the USB drive from the media hub. If the numbers on the screen do not match, press YES to perform the software update again.
